Let me just start off by saying that the Enchanted Forest Tarot is absolutely beautiful. The artwork is amazing and makes me wish I could just step into the world these cards exhibit. It is so earthy yet ethereal and this combination makes for an easy deck to read using your intuition. The Card Stock: The card stock is thinner, I know a lot of readers complain about this but personally, when I read for people the big chunky thick cards can make for a difficult shuffle and can sometimes stick together. This is a nice smooth shuffling deck and I think that if treated with respect it will last a very long time. The Book: The book is a good size and I enjoyed looking through it. The artwork carries through the book and even has an area in the back to journal your thoughts. The Minor Arcana cards are split into Aces through Keepers (Kings) which is nice because you can learn more about numerology involved with the tarot and it gives you greater insight into the Court cards. That being said the Court cards have been changed for this deck.
The book also speaks to the Shadow side to these cards and I just love that because I LOVE shadow work. I think doing shadow work is like pulling out the weeds of your inner workings and really helps to know thyself. Taking time to journal can help purge stuck feelings, help to unpack your old stories and really dive into why you are who you are. You could even take the Court cards out of this deck and just using these and book, dig into your shadow side a bit. You may be surprised at what you find. The Minor Arcana names have also been changed.
Many of the Major Arcana names have been changes as well. I am a lover of the basic tarot deck personally, because I do not find anything scary about the tarot at all but I know that some people do not care for the "scary" cards such as the Devil or Death. If you are normally turned off by those kinds of cards than this deck is for you. It is much softer, and way less "patriarchal" than the usual Rider-Waite decks. The Fool's Journey is changed to the Forest Journey (which I love). Here is a list of the Major Arcana that have been renamed:
The book also has different tarot spreads that you can try at the end of the book. The two that I loved were the Council of Animal and the Breadcrumbs and Moonstones spreads.
The Council of Animals is an in depth spread that is best during milestones such as birthdays or New Years or even monthly. This a great personal development spread and is best is you love journaling those inner workings. The Breadcrumbs and Moonstones is based on the Hansel and Gretel story and points out to what works and what doesn't work in whatever situation you are asking about. You divide the tarot deck into two piles, left side right side. The one on the left is what will work and the right is the one that won't work, or what not to do. I really liked this one, and have used it with clients who also appreciated the advice. All in all I adore this deck. It is very calming and has such a beautiful and earthy vibe to it. It makes me want to head to the nearest Renaissance Fair. If you want to buy the deck you can find it here on Amazon.
